How Is A PUC Test Conducted?

With the general idea of what a PUCC is, let us look into the process of acquiring a PUCC. The PUC test is determined based on the fuel used by the vehicle, i,e, Petrol or Diesel. Bikes running on diesel, the accelerator is entirely hard-pressed and then the emission level is noted. This process is repeated five times and the final result is the average of the five recordings. For bikes that are running on petrol, the bike is kept idle without pressing the accelerator. Only one reading is made and that is the final reading,

When Should I Get A PUCC?

PUC certificate must be obtained when you buy a new vehicle. A PUC Certificate is given while buying a new vehicle by default. PUC certificate is valid for 1 year only and after that, you have to get your vehicle tested again at a registered PUC testing centre.

Importance of PUCC

By reading so far, you must be wondering why is the PUC being valued so much? Why is it necessary? This is because the PUC certificate has:

  • The serial number of the certificate of PUC test issued
  • Vehicle’s license plate figure
  • Date of the Test
  • The expiry date of the PUC certificate
  • Analysis and comments from the PUC test

Where Can I Get A PUCC?

You can get the PUCC at:

  • Authorized petrol pumps.
  • Self-governing testing centres
  • Accredited auto emission centre

PUC certificate is a legally necessary document for a vehicle that must be carried always when you are driving the vehicle. When asked by a traffic official, if you cannot produce the document, then you will have to face the consequences by paying the fine. You should be careful to always renew the document as and when it expires. Not carrying the PUC is a punishable offence and is liable for prosecution.
