In the current world climate with the Covid-19 pandemic, it is of utmost importance to maintain good health and hygiene. This includes keeping our surroundings clean and germ free. One important aspect of this that you may have overlooked is the sanitisation of your two wheeler, something that you probably use every day and is exposed to untold microbes and germs at every hour, especially if it is parked outside. Therefore, the process of getting rid of these germs, bacteria, fungi, spores, etc., from your two wheeler is a step in its maintenance that you cannot ignore. Let’s read all about how to do this.
Steps to Sanitise your Two Wheeler
Take the following steps to ensure good health and hygiene by sanitising your two wheeler.
STEP 1: Gel Cleanser
- A good gel cleanser is good to have on hand as it can be used to clean your bike even when you are not planning on giving a thorough washing to the whole body. Therefore, gel cleanser is a good start in the steps to sanitise your two wheeler.
- Apply the cleanser over the main body of the two wheeler, especially in places where human touch occurs the most, such as the handles and the foot mat.
- If any areas of the two wheeler are heavily soiled, spray the cleaner onto them.
- Leave it on for 5-6 minutes.
- Wipe down the parts where you have applied the cleanser with a sponge or a piece of cloth which has been heavily soaked in freshwater, completing the first step of cleaning and sanitising your two wheeler.
STEP 2: Water
- The next step is to water down the two wheeler with a hose pipe or a regular garden pipe.
- With a piece of cloth or a sponge, thoroughly clean all the parts of the two wheeler, from the rear fender, front panel, and both wheels.
- It is important that you do not miss any remote parts of the two wheeler in this process.
- Be careful not to rub the body or seat covers too roughly as this can cause scratches to the two wheeler or its paint.
STEP 3: Cleaning with a Brush
- Certain parts of the bike may require a brush to thoroughly clean.
- Use a brush to clean the parts like the suspension or the interiors of the rear fender.
- You would also need it for parts that accumulate mud and dirt such as the wheel rims and shock absorbers.
STEP 4: Finishing the Process
- Finish the sanitisation process by watering down the two wheeler once again.
- Make sure that all exposed parts such as headlight and brake light are completely dry. Do this by wiping down the bike with a cotton cloth or sponge.
