Delhi Gets Its First Drive-in COVID-19 Vaccination Centre in Dwarka From Today
According to the latest reports, Delhi has its first drive-in vaccination centre opened in Dwarka. The center will become operational from today at the Vegas Mall, Dwarka after inauguration by Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi. The centre is going to vaccinate people with Covishield vaccines from 9 am till 5 pm everyday. It must be noted that the drive-in vaccination centre has been set up by the Delhi government as well as the south-west Delhi District Magistrate. The center has been set up in partnership with Akash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital.
It must be noted that Akash Healthcare Super Speciality Hospital has procured around 30,000 doses of Covishield, Serum Institute’s COVID-19 vaccine. According to the officials, these 30,000 doses will be used to vaccinate people belonging to the 18 to 44 years age group at the center.
As per DM Naveen Aggarwal, the start of the drive-in vaccination will be kept slow so as to avoid the rush on the road. About 40 to 50 doses will be administered for the initial few days. Later, the number of doses administered on a daily basis will be increased gradually to around 300.
Delhi had been planning to set up a drive-in vaccination centre like such in the city after Mumbai started earlier this month. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation had planned to set up the first drive-in COVID-19 vaccination centre in its parking lots, however, it has not been materialised yet.
Delhi is one of the worst COVID-19-affected states in India. The national capital has seen as many as 23,565 deaths so far due to COVID-19 and related complications.
