With the PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider, two major critical illnesses are covered. The first is in case of a heart attack (Myocardial Infarction) of specified severity, the first time it occurs. Secondly, is for cancer of specified severity. These are subject to the conditions of the rider with respect to diagnosis. This rider also comes with the flexibility to choose the sum assured according to your needs.
Conditions of the PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider
Here are two conditions that are important to keep in mind when purchasing the PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider:
- The rider benefits from the PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider is valid to be paid only if the policyholder survives at least for 30 days after being diagnosed with the critical illness.
- The rider comes into action only after 90 days have passed since the insurance plan was issued.
Exclusions of the PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider
Although the PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider provides important benefits, here are a few circumstances that are excluded:
1. Pre-existing Illness
If the policyholder is suffering from some illness before the commencement of the insurance plan, this rider does not cover it.
2. Death by Suicide
If the policyholder dies by suicide within 12 months from the beginning of the life insurance policy, the nominee is entitled to 80% of the total premium amount paid till the day of death. This amount is calculated under the policy of death or surrender value, whichever is higher.
3. Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)
This rider does not cover illnesses or subsequent complications arising from STDs.
4. Substance Abuse
The PNB Metlife Critical Illness Rider does not cover illnesses or complications arising from the consumption of unprescribed drugs or narcotics.
