Read more to understand the registration procedure for your new bike, as well as the registration documents required.

The term RTO stands for Regional Transportation Office. Every two-wheeler owner must register their vehicle in order to comply with the Motor Vehicle Act. Car owners can go to their local RTO and get their vehicle registered after acquiring it because the RTO governs all vehicles in the country. The inspectors at the RTO will check your car, validate it, and then provide it with a registration number. For commercial and private vehicles, the registration process differs. Self-registration or dealer registration are the two options for RTO registration. Your dealer may register your new bike for you, or you can do it yourself by going to a nearby RTO.

New Bike Registration Through RTO And Vahan Portal

RTO & Vahan Portal for New Bike Registration

It's crucial to understand the registration procedure for your new bike, as well as the registration documents that must be filled out and submitted together with the registration form. The registration form may be downloaded on the Vahan website. The following is a list of RTO forms that must be submitted with your registration:

  • Form 20: Application for a new car registration
  • Form 21: Sale Certification
  • Form 23: Certificate of Registration
  • Form 24: Registration of Motor Vehicles
  • Form 29: Vehicle ownership transfer notification
  • Form 38A: Inspection Report
  • Form 50: Bill of Lading
  • Form 51: Certificate of insurance
  • Form 54: Accident Information Report
  • Form 57: Foreign Insurance

India's Vehicle Registration Number

In India, there are two sorts of car registration numbers. One is only transitory, whereas the other is permanent. Before receiving the permanent registration number, the bike owner is given a temporary registration number that is good for one month. When the RTO provides a permanent vehicle registration number, it signifies that the vehicle's ownership has been confirmed and that the car's chassis and engine number have been used to identify it.

Document Required for New Bike Registration

Along with the registration form, you must provide the following documents:

  • Form 20: Application for a new car registration
  • Form21: The vehicle dealership provides Form21, which is the sale certificate.
  • Form22: This is a roadworthiness certificate issued by the bike's manufacturer.
  • The PUCC stands for pollution under control certificate, which is issued by the bike's dealer.
  • Proof of address, such as a utility bill or an ID with the address written on it.
  • The RTO will offer you a temporary registration certificate until you get your permanent registration certificate.
  • Form 34: If you bought the automobile using a bank loan, you'll need to fill out Form 34.
  • It gives information on the bike's hypothecation.
  • Form 60: Copy of your Pan card. If you don't have it, complete out form 60 and send it in.
  • Dealer/Manufacturer Invoice: The dealer's purchase invoice, as well as the manufacturer’s invoice, is supplied to the dealer.
  • Photograph the size of a passport.
  • Proof of date of birth, a copy of your driver's license, passport, or Pan card.
  • By pencil sketch, the engine and chassis numbers are printed.

Take Away

According to the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988, it is required for a new bike owner to have the bike registered with the appropriate RTO. As vital as a bike's registration number is, a two-wheeler insurance coverage is required to safeguard the bike from unanticipated events that might put the bike owner under financial strain.Disclaimer: This article is issued in the general public interest and meant for general information purposes only.
