Factors that Affect Your Comprehensive Car Insurance Premium in 2024
- Age of Your Car: The age of your vehicle is the biggest determinant of the price of your car insurance premium. As the age increases, the premium price also increases since older vehicles tend to be more risky and damaged as compared to newer ones.
- Make, Model, Variant of Your Car: The brand, model and variant type of your car also impacts the premium of your comprehensive car insurance.
- Type of Engine: Depending on the engine type or cubic capacity (cc) of your car, your insurance premium can change.
- Price of Your Car: Depending on the price of your car, your premium price will also change. A high end or premium car will have a higher premium than an economical car.
- New or Pre-owned Car: Depending on whether your car is pre-owner or new, your car’s premium will change. Usually the premium of your new car will be cheaper than that of an old car as old cars are considered to be high risk cars.
- Your Age: Whether you are a young adult, middle aged person or a senior citizen the price of your car premium will change. Price of premium for car insurance for young adults tends to be higher since they are considered risky on the road.
- Gender: Your gender also influences your premium rate, since men are more likely to indulge in risky driving, car insurance premium price for men are higher than that for women of the same age.
- Deductibles: Deductibles are the amount that you agree with your insurer to pay out of your pocket for any cost incurred. Since this brings down the load on your insurer, this helps lower your premium price.
- Add Ons Taken: The total number of add ons you take will also have an impact on your insurance premium since add ons come at an additional cost.
- Driving History: Your driving history - the number of times you have broken traffic rules or been in an accident also impacts your car insurance premium price.
- Credit History: Depending on how your credit history is, how many payments have you been unsuccessful in paying off and the number of loans you have may also negatively impact your car insurance premium price.
- Premium Payment History: The history of lapse in your insurance premium in the past or your overall track record will also impact your insurance premium.
- Claim History: The number of claims you have made in the past also influences your premium price. It is important to note that you must not make claims for tiny or small issues/ repairs.
- No Claim Bonus: Your no claim bonus or NCB impacts your premium price positively as the bonus gets subtracted from the overall premium bringing the cost down.
- Security System Installed: The more secure your car is the lesser will be the premium. If you have installed a better and high quality security system, it will ensure your car is safer. Hence it will bring down the premium cost.
