Senior Citizen Mediclaim Policy by New India Assurance brings a handful of coverage benefits for parents at their elderly age. A unique health insurance policy in nature, this policy offers coverage for expenses incurred during hospitalisation or treatment due to a surgery or accidental injury. This is a good policy for people aged between 60 years to 80 years. If the policy gets renewed without a break, the cover can be extended to age 90.

Key Features

• Sum Insured: Rs. 1 Lakh and/or Rs. 1.5 Lakh
• 10% discount for voluntary excess of Rs. 10,000
• 10% discount in case the spouse is also covered
• Reimbursement of health checkup costs once in a block of 4 claim-free years

• Free health checkup if the proposer already has New India Mediclaim Insurance

Scope of Coverage

• Pre-hospitalisation up to 30 days, a maximum of 5% of the hospital bill
• Post-hospitalisation up to 60 days, a maximum of 10% of the hospital bill
• Inpatient treatment, including room rent, ICU, fees of the surgeon, anaesthesia, blood, oxygen, OT, etc.
• Pre-existing diseases after 18 months of continuous insurance
• Expenses incurred for Ayurvedic/Homeopathic/Unani treatment, 5% of the sum insured
• Ambulance services, subject to a maximum of Rs. 1000
• Organ donor expenses in case of organ transplant

Eligibility

If your parents come in the age range of 60 years to 80 years, then they are eligible for this New India’s health insurance policy.

Exclusions

• Any skin-related disease developed within 18 months
• Surgery for cataract & age-related eye ailments within 18 months
• Injuries due to war, an act of a foreign enemy, warlike situations, nuclear weapons, etc.
• All type of dental treatment, except arising out of an accident
• Treatment of any injury due to a result of participation in any criminal act
