COVID-19: Dr. Reddy's, Apollo Hospitals to Start Vaccination Programme with Sputnik V
According to the latest reports, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Apollo Hospitals have collaborated to start COVID-19 vaccination programme with Sputnik V, coronavirus vaccine from Russia. As per a joint statement, the first vaccination phase, the pilot phase will begin in Hyderabad on Monday. The first vaccination phase will begin on Tuesday in Visakhapatnam.
K Hari Prasad, Apollo Hospitals President – Hospitals Division reportedly stated that Apollo Hospitals is currently administering COVID-19 vaccine at 60 locations across the country including Apollo Hospitals, Apollo Spectra hospitals and Apollo Clinics. He also informed that discussions with corporates to undertake vaccination on their premises are also going on.
It must be noted that COVID-19 vaccination through Sputnik V will follow the procedure recommended as per the government, including registration on the CoWIN portal. The supply of Sputnik V vaccines for the pilot programme is expected to be given by Dr Reddy’s from the first batch of 1.5 Lakh doses imported as of now.
After Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, the pilot programme is expected to extend in Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai.
Sputnik V is all set to be rolled out. The second batch of sixty thousand Sputnik V shots had arrived in India on Sunday. 1.5 Lakh doses had come to India on 1 May in the first shipment.
