Covid-19 Weekend Lockdown in Uttar Pradesh From Friday 8pm Till Monday 7am
According to the latest reports, a Covid-19 weekend lockdown will be imposed in the entire state of Uttar Pradesh in an effort to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the state. The lockdown will come into force from 24 April 8 pm and continue till Monday at 7 am. It must be noted that as per the new orders, districts having more than 500 active Covid-19 cases will also remain under night curfew, which will be effective between 8pm to 7am every day.

Awanish K Awasthi, Additional Chief Secy, Home Department confirmed that during the coronavirus weekend lockdown, only essential services will be allowed. Night curfew will remain imposed in all districts.
On Tuesday, the Supreme Court granted interim stay on the Allahabad High Court order that directed the Uttar Pradesh government to impose strict restrictions till April 26 in five cities, namely Lucknow, Allahabad, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, and Kanpur Nagar following a significant rise in coronavirus cases. The Yogi Adityanath-led government had moved the Supreme Court against the high court order, which the Supreme Court stayed and listed to be heard again after two weeks.
It must be noted that out of the 28,287 new novel coronavirus cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 5,897 new cases are from Lucknow, which has the highest number in the entire state. Apart from the same, 2,668 new cases were recorded in Varanasi, 1,576 in Prayagraj and 1,365 in Kanpur. As of now, 2,08,523 patients are undergoing treatment in Uttar Pradesh.
In the last 24 hours, the state of Uttar Pradesh has reported 167 deaths due to Covid-19 whereas recorded a total of 28,287 new cases.
