First COVID-19 Vaccine Shipment to Reach Delhi Next Week
India is all set to commence its coronavirus vaccination drive. With all the preparatory work going on for the past few months, now the time has finally come for Covid-19 vaccines to arrive in India. According to a report, the last week of December 2020 will bring along the first shipment of the Covid-19 vaccine in the national capital.
To gear up for the vaccination programme, the Delhi government has identified about 609 cold chain storage points. Some of the major Delhi hospitals including Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital, Kasturba Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital and GTB Hospital have been chosen for storing the Covid-19 vaccine jabs. Moreover, training of hundreds and thousands of healthcare workers for the vaccination drive is still on.
The arrival of Covid-19 vaccine in India is a major development as the country is ready to conduct one the biggest coronavirus vaccination drives in the world. To enable optimum storage of Covid-19 vaccine, 45,000 ice-lined refrigerators, 41,000 deep freezers, 29,000 cold chain points, 240 walk-in coolers, 300 solar refrigerators, 70 walk-in freezers will be utilized all across the country.
