India Witnesses Highest Ever Single-Day Spike Of 1.3 Lakh COVID-19 Cases
The coronavirus situation in India is becoming stressful day-by-day. As per the latest reports, the country has reported over one million cases in just 11 days. On Wednesday, India reported its single-day spike of 1.3 lakh new coronavirus infections, taking the country’s Covid-19 tally to near 13 million. It must be noted that the number of active Covid-19 cases in India has surpassed the 9-lakh mark again. Furthermore, many states and union territories have been reporting a rise in daily coronavirus cases for the last few weeks.

In order to curb the spread of coronavirus in India, states like Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh have already announced weekend lockdowns that begin from 6 pm today till Monday 6 am, every week till further notice. On the contrary, Delhi, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka have imposed night curfews in key cities. Various other states/UTs have announced more stringent Covid-19 restrictions to lower down the spread of cases. While schools and educational institutes are being closed again, restriction on social gatherings and ban on the movement of people are also being implemented.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Chief Ministers/Administrators of all the states and union territories. He emphasised on creation of micro-containment zones and novel coronavirus testing & contact tracing.
