Over 58 Lakh Healthcare & Frontline Workers Covid-19 Vaccinated, Says Union Health Ministry

According to the Union Health Ministry, the number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against coronavirus disease crossed the mark of 58 lakh on the 23rd day of the inoculation programme being conducted across the country. Resultantly, India now enjoys the position of third topmost country having administered higher doses of Covid-19 vaccine and comes after the US and the UK.

The ministry addressed the novel coronavirus vaccination programme held on Sunday in 12 states, including Assam, Haryana, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Karnataka, Bihar, Kerala, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Tripura. According to the provisional report, the cumulative number of healthcare workers along with frontline workers vaccinated against Covid-19 was 58,03,617 till 6:40 pm on Sunday, February 7.

So far, a total of 1,16,478 sessions have been held, in addition to the 1,295 sessions that were held till the evening of February 7. The Union health ministry informed that out of the total cumulative coverage, the number of healthcare workers is 53,17,760 and 4,85,857 of frontline workers.

No adverse events following immunisation (AEFIs) were reported till 6.40 pm on Sunday.

As per the provisional report, out of the 58,03,617 vaccinated beneficiaries, 3,79,042 were from Bihar, 2,92,195 from Kerala, 3,88,476 from Karnataka, 3,42,016 from Madhya Pradesh, 4,73,480 from Maharashtra, 1,66,408 from Tamil Nadu, 1,09,589 from Delhi, 4,46,367 from Gujarat, 6,73,542 from Uttar Pradesh and 3,54,000 from West Bengal.
