Uber Partners with Bharti AXA and TATA AIG to Launch Free Accidental Insurance
Uber also joins the race as Religare partners with Ola to launch health insurance plan. In the ongoing advancement, Uber partners with Bharti AXA and TATA AIG to provide free accidental insurance to its riders.
This accidental policy comes with the sum insured of Rs. 5 Lakh in case of accidental death or disability and Rs. 2 Lakh for hospitalisation expenses including Rs. 50,000 as OPD benefit.
On the launch, Head of Central Operations (Rides) for India and South Asia, Uber, Pavan Vaish said that the safety of the riders is their priority. Hence, at first they have started a call centre to ensure the safety of their riders, and now they have come up with this free insurance plan for their riders. He added that this plan would apply to all the variants of Uber, i.e. Car riders, Uber Auto and Uber Moto. He said that the health insurance cover would start the moment you enter an Uber vehicle until the trip finishes.
Mr. Pavan added that the whole process is seamless and cashless. One just needs to select the ride in the app and fill in the details. To report an accident, the rider needs to go to the ‘Past Trips’ section and fill in the feedback or select ‘Help’ and ‘Trip and Fare Review’ and the support team will contact the rider and coordinate with the insurance team for the claim process.
The company has also recently rolled out insurance plan for their 4,50,000 registered drivers in India. The plan included cover for disablement, accidental death, hospitalisation and medical expenses.
