Vitamin D Reduces Covid-19 Mortality Rate, Says Study

A recent study has revealed the efficiency of Vitamin D is reducing the Covid-19 mortality rate. Researchers from Tabriz Health Services Management Research Center and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences conducted this research, which was published on the medRxiv server.

The research suggests that Vitamin D supplement aids in reducing the Covid-19 mortality rate. Furthermore, it also lowers its severity and serum levels of inflammatory markers.

For the research, scientists studied multiple findings, including Scopus, Embase, PubMed, Web of Knowledge, Ovid, and The Cochrane Library up to December 16, 2020. Initially, there were different opinions on Vitamin D’s efficiency of fighting the novel coronavirus, but the study brought in a whole new perspective.

The three studies revealed that the mortality rate is minimal among the intervention group than the control group.

Two studies found that coronavirus patients who received Vitamin D supplementation had low clinical outcomes based on WHO’s OSCI score. Moreover, one study showed that people who received vitamin D had a lower rate of admission in the ICU.
