From 1 July 2021, the car owners will be able to purchase a car insurance plan from their postman. Now onwards, India Post by Indian Post Payment Bank (IPPB) will be selling car insurance plans to customers.
Anyone who wants to purchase car insurance can now visit their nearest post office or even can schedule a postman’s visit to his or her home by calling 155299 or by making a request on Post Info App. To avail of this feature at the comfort of home, you should own an account with India Post Payment Bank (IPPB). The bank has got its ties with Tata AIG and Bajaj Allianz general insurance companies.
Who Can Purchase Car Insurance from India Post?
At present, the facility of car insurance policy to sell by postman will be available only at the Prayagraj and Kausambi districts of Uttar Pradesh. Anyone there who possess an account with the Indian Post Payment Bank (IPPB) is allowed to buy car insurance from India Post. To purchase a policy, a customer should present the RC (Registration Certificate) of the car along with the last car insurance cover, if any, to the postman. If a person does not hold an IPPB account, no need to fret, as the account can be opened within a few minutes by sharing the Aadhaar card and mobile number.
