About Liberty Individual Personal Accident Health Insurance

Individual Personal Accident Policy offers you basic accident protection and value-enhanced protection by way of add-on covers. The policy comes with different sum insured options that you can choose as per your requirements, ranging between Rs. 1 Lakh and Rs. 1 crore. The policy comes with value-added covers like child education benefit, cost of transportation of mortal remains, and cost of performance of death ceremony. The Proposer can customise the cover at his/her discretion. Under the policy, people aged between 18 years and 70 years can be covered. One can include self, spouse, and up to two dependent children under this policy.

You can buy an Individual Personal Accident Policy for a term of 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years, and avail discount on buying the policy for 2 or 3 years. The policy benefits include lifetime renewability benefit, free look period of 15 days, and a grace period of 30 days. You can also buy this policy even if you already have a regular medical insurance policy. This is because it compensates you with a lump sum amount as and when you require financial support due to a crisis arising in the misfortunate event of death or disablement of the insured.

Add-ons to Enhance Benefits

  • Accidental Hospitalisation Expenses

    This add-on will indemnify reasonable medical expenses incurred at the hospital or nursing home for the treatment required due to an accident suffered during the policy period. The expenses will be covered for up to the maximum sum insured in case of a valid claim.
  • Accidental Hospital Daily Cash

    In the misfortunate event of the insured suffering an accident during the policy period, the insurance company pays a daily allowance for the number of days the insured is hospitalised for treatment. The benefit is paid when the hospitalisation exceeds a specific number of days. The maximum number of days for which the benefit is payable, the amount to be paid, and admission deductible amount will be mentioned in the policy schedule.
  • Broken Bone

    If you sustain an injury that leads to fracture of bones/dislocation of joints in one of the ways as specified in the policy document, then under this add-on, you will be paid the percentage of sum insured in case a valid claim is made.
  • Life Support Assistance

    If you suffer an accident during policy term for which a valid claim has been made for Permanent Total Disability, then with this add-on benefit, you will be paid for life support, the sum insured for this benefit every month as per the number of months specified in the policy document.
  • Ambulance Hiring Charges

    In case of an accident, if it is required to immediately transfer the insured to the nearest hospital or nursing home by ambulance offered by a service provider or healthcare provider, then the insurer will reimburse the actual expenses of transfer using the shortest route or up to a maximum amount as mentioned in the policy document.
  • Family Transportation Benefit

    In case the insured is, after an accident, confined in a hospital or a nursing home outside 100 kms of normal place of residence, and if personal attendance of an immediate family member is recommended by the attending physician, then under this add-on benefit, they will be reimbursed for Permanent Total or Permanent Partial Disability in case of a valid claim.
  • Child Education Support Benefit

    In the misfortunate event of an accident during the policy period, for accidental death or permanent total disability, the insurer under this benefit will pay for the tuition fees of the dependent children of the insured. The benefit can be availed for up to the sum insured benefit according to benefit every month for the number of months as mentioned in the schedule.
  • Loan Protector

    In case an accidental injury leads to death or permanent total disability, then the insurer under this add-on benefit will pay the Equated Monthly Installment of loan received through a financial institution or sum as mentioned in the policy schedule, on a monthly basis whichever is lower, of the sum insured, being made available to the insured person, legal heir, or nominee. This is subject to the submission of a sanction letter as well as repayment track record or bank account statement specifying EMI or loan account statement.
  • Outstanding Bills Protection Benefit

    In case an accidental injury results in death or permanent total disability as defined in the policy wordings, and if the insured has outstanding payout to creditors, like utility as well as credit card bills, then the insurer will reimburse such outstanding expenses up to the limit and the specific time period as per the policy schedule, in case a valid claim is made for death or permanent disability.
  • Legal Bail Expenses

    In the misfortune event of the insured getting involved in an accident during the policy term, if the insured is detained by the police or judicial authorities and if the offence is bailable, then the insurance company will reimburse towards the fees subject to the maximum amount as per the policy schedule.
  • Double Indemnity

    Under this add-on benefit, the insurance company pays you an amount that is equal to the capital sum insured available under accident benefit, if death or permanent total disability occurs after an accident when the insured is travelling as a fare paying passenger in any public carriers like ferry, bus, ship, taxi, tram, train, underground train, aircraft or commercial helicopter.

  • Is there any renewal benefit under Personal Accident Policy if I renew my policy next year?

    Yes. You will receive a cumulative bonus of 5% for every claim-free year of insurance subject to a maximum accumulation of 50% of the capital sum insured. 

  • Can I cancel my Personal Accident Policy offered by Liberty General Policy? Will I get a refund for the same?

    Yes. You can cancel your Personal Accident Policy offered by Liberty General Policy. In this case, the premium for the period at risk will be retained according to the short period rates and you will be refunded the balance. No refund will be given when a claim is notified or settled. 

  • What is the entry age for Individual Personal Accident Policy?

    The minimum and maximum entry age to buy Individual Personal Accident Policy is 18 years and 70 years. Dependent children can be covered under this policy if they are aged between 5 years and 25 years. 

  • What are the variants, plan type and sum insured options available under this policy?

    Individual Personal Accident Policy comes with two variants with Capital Sum Insured between Rs. 1 Lakh and Rs. 1 crore: 

    Unit Based Plan

    • Sum insured available ranges from Rs. 10 Lakh and Rs. 1 Crore

    Flexi Plan 

    • Available on individual and family floater sum insured 
    • Sum insured ranges between Rs. 1 Lakh and Rs. 1 crore
  • Will this policy cover me for Individual Personal Accident Policy even if I am out of India?

    Yes. Personal Accident Policy covers you even when you are out of the country. The sum insured will be paid in Indian rupees in case of claim. The claim will be paid in India only.
