1. Swavalamban Health Insurance Scheme
The Government of India launched Swavalamban Health Insurance Scheme in the year 2015 to offer comprehensive health insurance coverage to the beneficiary and their family members. This is a customized health insurance plan issued by New India Assurance Company to offer health insurance coverage to individuals suffering from low vision, blindness, hearing impairment, mental illness, mental retardation, loco-motor disability and leprosy-cured.
Key Features of Health Insurance Scheme
- Any individual, who is aged between 0 to 65 years, with disease verified by any skilled authority. The coverage offered to people include disabled individuals, two dependent children and spouse.
- The sum insured offered under the scheme is Rs 2 Lakh for self or for the entire family.
- The policy tenure provided under the insurance plan is for 10 months from the issuance date of the health cover.
- The earnings of the family are maximum 3 Lakh or less than 3 Lakh.
- The plan also offers coverage for hospitalisation, pre-hospitalisation and post-hospitalisation expenses incurred by the individual including AYUSH care.
2. Nirmalya Health Insurance Scheme
The National trust launched Nirmalya Health Insurance Scheme for the welfare of individuals, who are suffering from Cerebral palsy, multiple disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities and mental retardation. This health insurance scheme is available for Indian citizens residing in any part of the nation except Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, the policy proposer is not required to undergo any pre-policy medical check-up to purchase the health insurance scheme.
Key Features of Health Insurance Scheme
- There is no age limit in order to purchase this health insurance scheme, however, there needs to be a valid disability certificate and registration with the National Trust is compulsory.
- The sum insured option available under this health insurance scheme is Rs 1 Lakh.
- In case, the income of the whole family is less than Rs. 15,000, then in such scenario the policyholder needs to pay Rs 250 as the premium against the insurance plan. However, in case, the income of the whole family is Rs. 15,000 per month, then the premium that is required to be paid against the health scheme is Rs. 500.
