Stay Fit & Active at Home During Coronavirus Lockdown
Stay Fit & Active Physically at Home: Coronavirus has impacted our lives in many ways-mentally, emotionally, financially, and physically. It has changed entirely the ways we used to learn, work, and play.
As the Prime Minister hints at lockdown 4.0, it is imperative that most of us will be stuck inside our homes for a few more days even after May 17 when Lockdown 3.0 is scheduled to end.
While many of us are working/studying during our stay indoors, many may not be able to follow any routine. Whichever way, it is evident we are not being physically active as we usually do.
We are experiencing sedentary behavior and low levels of physical activity more than ever while in self-quarantine.
But on the other hand, the World Health Organisation recommends150-minutes of moderate-intensity or 75-minutes of vigorous physical activity or a combination of both every week to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Considering the same, here we are presenting you with a list of activities that you can follow at home during self-quarantine to stay fit.
Read them below.
1. Take Short Breaks Between Work
While working or studying, avoid sitting for long hours in a go. It is recommended that you take 1 or two minutes break every 20-30 minutes.
You can use this break to take a stroll in the house when attending calls, go to the balcony to get some fresh air, take an extra round when you get up to get something or put something away, or simply stand near your working area to stretch your body a little.
2. Use Stairs More Often
Climbing stairs is an extremely time-efficient way that helps you maintain fitness in just six weeks. Opt for stairs instead of lift if you live in an apartment, and avoid contact with the handrail as much as possible.
You can keep yourself active by doing as little as three stair-climbs a day for at least 20-30 seconds each.
3. Dance To Music
Dancing can reach moderate to vigorous intensity and is therefore an excellent way to maintain fitness. There are many fitness applications (like cure.fit) and live dance concerts that you can engage yourselves into and dance like no one is watching.
It will not only help you stay fit physically but mentally as well to get rid of the solitude during the Coronavirus outbreak. So, wear shoes, attach speakers, and get to dancing as a routine during self-quarantine.
4. Spend More Time With Your Kids As Well As Pets
Take Coronavirus as an opportunity to spend more time with your kids and pets. Bond more with them and play actively as always wanted with you. Both pets and kids thrive on human attention and if given a chance, may always keep you on your feet.
Irrespective of the age of your kids, or even parents, there are a lot of fun activities you can involve yourself in like playing board games, doing fun activities in the garden, exercising, and singing and dancing with them.
5. Use Your Body Weight
There are several home-based exercises that use your bodyweight like press-ups, planks, squats, back extensions, side knee lifts, and sit-ups. These are as important as aerobics and can help people of all ages to stay fit and active during coronavirus lockdown.
Try doing some bodyweight sessions every week with at least 15 repetitions in each set. Also, don’t forget to take breaks of 2-3 minutes after every set.
6. Relax
Meditation can help you stay calm amid the coronavirus chaos spread across the world. You can follow meditation as a routine and do a few techniques that are sure to find your inner peace in tough times like these.
These techniques can be practicing deep breathing, visualizing, etc. You can even do standing or sitting yoga to feel better.
