How To Port Health Insurance Online?

The following steps need to be taken if you want to have your insurance policy ported:

Step 1: Choose a New Insurance Company:  A new insurance company can be chosen by firstly, searching online for available insurance that is better than the existing policy or offers more benefits for the same amount of money. The new insurance policy should be chosen from the best ones available. This can be done by the consumer or by seeking the help of a professional, so as to ensure the best outcome.

Step 2: Apply to a New Insurance Policy: The application process comes next. The application can be easily filled online by the consumer. They just have to ensure that the process of application for porting is done 45-60 days before the insurance policy expiration for it to work.

Step 3: Fill the Portability Form: After filling out the application form, the consumer must then fill out the portability and proposal forms sent to them by the new insurance providers. The form includes personal details of the consumer and the details of the previous insurance policies.

Step 4: Verify Your Details: This is arguably one of the most essential steps in the porting process. The details provided by the consumer to the new insurance company are verified, and if any mistakes or incorrect information is found, the portability request can be denied. The overall health of the consumer is reviewed by verifying their medical history, and they are then qualified for the insurance policy. This process usually takes a few days.

Step 5: The Two Companies Exchange Information: The process involves the exchange of insurance details required by the new insurance company from the previous insurance company. This is done as mandated through the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDIA) portal. The IRDIA is an autonomous statutory body which regulates the insurance and reinsurance of Indian industries.

Step 6: The New Company Frames The Proposal: After satisfactory verification of the consumer's details, the new insurance company frames and drafts the proposal, which contains necessary information of the proposer and the life assured like name, age, address, education and employment details. This is one of the last steps of the porting process.

Step 7: The New Company Sends The Proposal: This is the final step of the porting process. It involves the insurance company sending the consumer the proposal after the satisfactory completion of the preceding steps. As the insurance porting process is a slightly lengthy one, it takes some time for the proposal to reach the hands of the consumer, so the consumer can rest assured that they would receive the new health insurance plan from the new insurance company shortly.
