About Universal Sompo Corona Kavach Health Insurance
The Corona Kavach Health Insurance Policy by Universal Sompo General Insurance is a standard plan to help people get the treatment for Covid-19 without any hassle. With this cover, you can be rest assured to counter the unpredictable aspects and magnitude of Coronavirus. The sum insured option of this plan starts from Rs. 50,000 and goes up to Rs. 5 Lakh, in the multiples of 50,000. Its coverage is available with a waiting period of 15 days from the commencement date of the policy.
This Corona Kavach plan is available on an individual as well as a family floater basis. On selecting any of these policies, the plan gives coverage to you, your legal spouse, dependent children, parents and parents-in-law, who can be covered from the age of 1 day to any age. The policy offers a range of benefits such as in-patient treatment, pre-hospitalisation and post-hospitalisation expenses, home care treatment costs, AYUSH treatment, etc. In addition to this, an optional cover of hospital daily cash can also be availed under this policy.

- Home care treatment expenses for a maximum period of up to 14 days per admission
- Medical Expenses incurred for in-patient care and treatment for Covid-19 under AYUSH procedures

Which relationships are eligible to get the coverage under this health insurance plan?
The relationships which can be covered under this insurance policy are self, legally wedded spouse, dependent children (i.e. natural or legally adopted) from 1 day of age to 25 years, parents and parents-in-law. However, financially independent children above the age of 18 years are not entitled to get coverage.

Is there any sub-limit available under this health insurance policy?
Yes, the policy acquires two types of sub-limits under the following benefits:
- Hospital Daily Cash - The medical expenses of 0.5% of sum insured per day subject to a maximum of 15 days in a policy period for every insured member are covered
- Home Care Treatment - The medical expenses are covered for maximum up to 14 days per incident.

What is the limit of pre-hospitalisation and post hospitalisation expenses as per this cover?
Under this health insurance plan, the pre-hospitalisation costs are covered for 15 days prior to the date of hospitalisation or home care treatment and the post-hospitalisation costs are covered for 30 days from the date of discharge from the hospital or completion of home care treatment.
