Common Liberty Car Insurance Claim Rejection Reasons
Following are some come scenarios/reasons which result in the rejection of a claim by the insurer:
- When the car was being used for any illegal purpose.
- Mismatch of details in the claim form against the documents submitted.
- Occurrence of an accident due to rash driving/negligence or of the driver.
- When the car was being driven without a valid driver’s license and car’s RC.
- Delay made by the policyholder in intimating the insurer about the accident/mishap.
- Repair of insured vehicle without permission and proper inspection of the vehicle by the insurer.
- When an accident of the insured car occurs due to the mistake of the driver under the influence of intoxicants.
Liberty No Claim Bonus
Liberty General Insurance offers a reward to its policyholders for not making any claim by driving safely. This reward is known as No Claim Bonus (NCB), which is offered when a policyholder renews his or her car insurance policy. With this bonus, the premium amount for the next year is determined by subtracting the no-claim bonus discount from the total premium payable. One thing needs to be remembered that discount earned will be applicable only on the own-damage component of the comprehensive car insurance policy. This bonus begins with a 20% discount on your insurance policy, with a maximum discount of 50% that can be gained by not making claims for five years in a row.
As the no claim bonus is given at the time of policy renewal, hence, it is crucial for policyholders to keep renewing their plans without any break, otherwise, the earned bonus could be terminated. Also, the NCB benefit belongs to the policyholder and not his car, so if the car owner sells his or her old car and buys a new one or shifts to a new insurer, the NCB can be transferred to the new car. It is recommended to bear small claims on your own to secure your accumulated bonus. However, it may not be possible every time, therefore, it is suggested that policyholders should pick a NCB Protect add-on cover to retain your bonus even after making a claim in a policy year.
