Basic third-party insurance from United India even covers driver/owner in an event of an accident. Hence, if there is an accident where the third party and the insured party have sustained injuries, the insurance would cover for both.
How to calculate the premium for the insurance?
To know the premium of UIIC motor insurance policy, visit our website www.insurancedekho.com and enter the required details to get quotes.
What is the first thing I should do after an accident?
The first thing that needs to be done is to inform the local police and lodge an FIR. The copy of FIR is very important for the claim process. Following this, if the victim needs medical attention, get to a hospital and inform the nearest UIIC insurance office.
Does the third-party insurance cover mechanical and electrical damages of the car/motorcycle?
No. The third-party insurance will not cover for damaged car or motorcycle, be it minor or major. Since it covers basics as per law, covering for everything is not be feasible.
Comprehensive
I have an occupant in the car at the time of the accident. Can I file a claim for the occupant?
A comprehensive insurance covers for occupants in the vehicle too. In case there is an unnamed occupant who has sustained an injury in an accident, the insured can apply for his/her claim too.
Can I transfer the insurance if I transfer ownership of my vehicle to someone else?
Yes, this is possible. However, the transfer of insurance needs to be done within 14 days from the actual date of transfer of ownership. Failing to do so, the transfer will not be possible.
Can I substitute my present insured car with another car?
The insurance holder can substitute an insured car with another car. But the substitution of car may lead to changes in the premium amount since the insurance on two cars will not be the same. Following the change in the premium amount, the present model and make will be substituted.
If I lose both my limbs in an accident, how much claim can I file for?
In case you have sustained a heavy injury like loss of both limbs, you will be entitled to 100% cover. However, in case of loss of one limb from an accident, there would be 50% cover of the amount.
Zero Depreciation
How much premium will I need to pay for Zero Depreciation insurance add-on?
Nothing can be said about the amount of premium for adding Zero Depreciation until it is calculated by official means. But in general cases, budget-friendly cars will attract lower amount while expenses cars attract higher rates.
Will Zero Depreciation add on replace my car if it has been in an accident?
It depends on the condition of any concerned vehicle following an accident and also on the company’s final decision. In most cases, if condition demands a replacement, it will be reimbursed, otherwise, repair costs will be provided, of course, without deducting the depreciation.
If I get a complete reimbursement, will it cover the entire cost of the new car?
Not the same as the cost of a new car, but if everything goes well and the company is satisfied, claim amount will be sanctioned without subtraction of any depreciation.
Why should I choose Zero Depreciation add-on for my new car?
Zero Depreciation is a no-nonsense kind of add-on for any existing insurance scheme. A new car is always prone to risks, especially if it is a new first-time buyer or new driver. Under such circumstances, the feasibility of Zero Depreciation add-on is more lucrative to the insured rather than the insurer.
