Factors that Affect Your Own Damage Car Insurance Premium
The premium is the amount you pay to get the insurance policy. Below mentioned is the list of factors that influence the premium of an Own Damage policy:
- Age of Car: Old Cars have lower premiums as their repair cost and spare parts are much less costly as compared to the latest cars with the latest technology and features.
- No Claim Bonus (NCB): If you did not take any claim during your policy period, you will get a No Claim Bonus on renewal of your policy. This bonus promotes safe driving and rewards the policyholder for the same. Longer durations without claim can get you an NCB of up to 50% off on your premium.
- Add-ons: There are certain add-ons available that you can add to customise your own damage policy. Premium increases with every added add-on.
- Make, Model, Variant: One of the key factors that influence your premium is the make, model, and variety of your vehicle. Premium high-end cars have much higher premiums than a budget-friendly cars.
- IDV ( Insured Declared Value): The IDV is the estimated current market price of your car. This value is determined by the insurer and insured before the insurance starts. A higher IDV will have a higher premium and similarly lower IDV will cost less.
- Engine Capacity: Since a car with higher power is more prone to damage as compared to less powerful cars, the premium for higher engine capacity ( cc) is more than those that have less engine capacity.
