Third-party car insurance is mandatory for every car. This page will have detailed information regarding the important details of Acko's third-party car insurance like inclusions and exclusions, purchase process, benefits and factors that affect premiums, etc.

How Acko Third-Party Car Insurance Works?

In case of an accident resulting in injury or damage to a person or property caused by your car, you are responsible for paying the compensation costs. Your insurer will cover these expenses under the third-party liability car insurance policy.

To file a claim, you need to inform the insurer about the accident and any damages or injuries involved. It's important to call the insurer as soon as possible to build trust and ensure a smooth process. After initiating the claim, you'll need to submit the necessary documents, click as many pictures as possible of the damage and accident area since this will be required to substantiate the degree of damage caused Be sure to take note of the contact details of the other party involved, as the insurer will contact them to gather information about the accident and the damages caused. The insurer will conduct further investigation by appointing a surveyor. Based on the evidence provided by the surveyor, assess whether you are eligible to receive compensation for the damages or injuries. Acko Third Party Car Insurance Claim Process

Processing an insurance claim for a third party can be difficult. Follow the steps below to get your claim approved.

How to File a Claim (Step-by-Step Process)

Here is a step-by-step guide on filing a third-party car insurance claim in India:

Step 1 - Register a Complaint or File an FIR

The first step is to inform Acko about the accident and file an FIR. Usually the third-party files the FIR at the local police station. Keep a copy of the FIR and the chargesheet filed.

Step 2 - Registration and Hearing at the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT)

Any road accident case is automatically transferred to and handled by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) from the police station. MACT is a specialised court that handles and decides the compensation for a road accident.

Step 4 - Share Your Policy Document

To support your third-party car insurance claim, you must provide a copy of your car insurance policy document to the MACT.

Step 5 - File a Case at the Tribunal

The case must be filed at the MACT by the third party. The compensation amount will be decided after a hearing and assessment of the damage

Step 6 - Document the Third-Party Damages

Make sure to collect all evidence, including photographs and the surveyor’s report if the accident caused damage to a third party’s vehicle or property. These documents will help assess the claim's value based on the extent of the damage. They should be submitted to your insurer and to MACT.

Step 7 - Hospitalisation Expenses and Third-Party Demise

In case the accident results in hospitalisation or death of the third party, you will have to claim compensation for hospitalisation and death benefits. The claim amount that the dependents of the deceased can file will be based on the income of the deceased.

Step 8 - Claim Settlement

After careful review by the MACT and assessment of the damage caused, they will finalise the compensation amount. Note that in case of bodily injury and demise of a third party, the turnaround time for paying off compensation is three years.

  • Learning to Drive: When driving with a learner's licence, you need a licensed adult to supervise. If you drive alone and have an accident, you won't be eligible for a claim.

Factors That Affect Your Third-Party Car Insurance Premium

The IRDAI has standardised prices for third-party car insurance policies that depend only on the car's engine cubic capacity. Thus, there are no other factors influencing the third-party premium, regardless of the insurer.

How To Calculate Third-party Car Insurance Premiums Online?

The premium price for third-party car insurance remains the same for everyone as directed by IRDAI, and additional costs will be applied if you choose any add-ons.
